Seattle Scenic Studios’ Vision and Goals are

*To benefit a variety of non-profit organizations in nurturing the growth of the region’s theatre and cultural community;

*To introduce, inspire and train the next generation of technical theatre artists to the dynamic and multi-faceted world of theatre behind the scenes;

*To stretch the budgets and resources of small non-profit arts and cultural institutions by

     -utilizing our resources of stock scenery eliminating redundancies of resources and expenses;

     -providing professional technical direction to ensure safe scenery construction and installation;

     -offer scenic project management; tracking costs for clients and maintaining budget;

*To cultivate perennial relationships with organizations providing consistent, quality service;

*To reduce recycle and reuse building materials.

SSS concept came from experiencing the need for a "home base" scenic studios for the hundreds of Puget Sounds theatres, museums and independent filmmakers, who had nowhere to construct their sets except garages, basements or on stage hours before a technical rehearsal was to begin.

Seattle Scenic Studios is comprised of seasoned theatre professionals with over 50 years of experience combined. Our passion is creating. If we aren't doing it here, we are creating elsewhere whether remodeling our own homes, designing/building our kids production at school, installing a deck for a friend or crafting gifts for the holidays.

We are non-profit to keep our costs low which enables us to roll that savings to you without compromising the design or production values.

What is it we do?
We are your scene shop. We build scenery and props in wood, steel and foam, we sculpt/carve, paint backdrops, rent props, rent scenery, we can do projections(slide or powerpoint/lcd projector), we can do oversized, full color printing (need a weather-proofed banner, sandwhich boards or large car magnet ad for your production?) We even have a small inventory of lighting and sound equipment to rent.If we don't have it, we find it. If we don't find it, we construct it. We love a challenge!

You, as the Producer, bring us your Design Elevations or sketches with dates of your production, loadin and strike, as well as a budget range. We will estimate how much the production/exhibit/film scene would cost to build from scratch- building, painting, transporting, installing, strike. (Click the PDF file below for a desired designer checklist)
If it doesn’t fit in your budget, collaboratively, with your Designer and Producer, we see what of our inventory can be intergrated into your concept. Maybe your 29-3/4” high platform becomes a more standard 24” high platform. Maybe you want to cut back in labor costs so your bank of volunteers may do all the painting required. Possibly your Board Member has a fleet of trucks and you want to save budget line item by transporting the set yourself.

Need A Designer? scenic, lights, props, costumes, sound? WE EVEN KNOW ACTORS.....
Contact us, we know or have worked with designers who work in all budget ranges.
